On the evening of November 10th, the College of Ocean Science and Engineering carried out the first phase of the Date with Shanghai series of cultural activities, and organized some freshmen of 2023 to go to Pudong Cultural Center to participate in the Drama Sea Tide drama performance, watch the youth drama Rite of Passage, and accept the spiritual baptism of growth in the immersed atmosphere of Shanghai culture.
The drama Rite of Passage is a dialogue between father and son, and the growth diary of ordinary people. Although the show is only the character's personal emotional fragments, it implies all aspects that we will face in the process of growing up, including family, parent-child, school, career, love, marriage and so on. The simple and true narrative style inspires the deep spiritual empathy of the students present, and the ordinary and three-dimensional story plot makes the students thoughtful and long-lasting.
The rite of passage is not a simple superposition of ages, and it will not be easily crossed because of a solemn declaration. It often happens quietly, in the memory of countless goodbye accumulated, connecting the present and the past, through life and death. This cultural experience activity of About with Shanghai is full of life truth and philosophy meaning, and has been praised by the students. I hope the students will always be optimistic, even if the road ahead is bumpy, still carry the burden of moving forward, and complete their rite of passage in life.
