In order to improve the cognition of 2023 new students majoring in port and navigation, clarify the professional direction and future learning content, and enhance the students' professional identity. On October 17, 2023, the Port Channel and Coastal engineering major of the College of Ocean Science and Engineering launched professional cognition education. Tang Peng, deputy director of the Department of Port and Navigation, gave a lecture, and all new students of 2023 majoring in port and navigation attended the meeting. The meeting also invited outstanding graduates of the port and shipping profession to share their work experience.


Teacher Tang Peng explained from the four contents of professional setting and development history, professional connotation and characteristics, professional learning content and professional employment direction, gave detailed data on the employment units and universities of port and shipping graduates in recent years, showed the good employment prospects of port and shipping majors, and answered the questions about employment direction and professional prospects that most students are most concerned about. Improve the students' recognition of the port and navigation major.


After the lecture on professional education for freshmen, Zheng Lin, an outstanding graduate of the class of 2009, shared his work experience, told about his growth experience in the work, and finally gave the students' learning suggestions in the undergraduate stage, so that the students had a more practical understanding of professional learning and career planning.


Through this professional cognition education, the students have a further understanding of the port and shipping major, realize the bright employment prospects of this major, strengthen the students' recognition of this major, and have a clearer study plan for the four years of college.
