May 5 to 7, the sixth national island Geotechnical Engineering Symposium was held in Beihai City, Guangxi Province. The conference is hosted by the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of China Civil Engineering Society and hosted by Guilin University of Technology. Professor Shi Danda, head of the Port and Ocean Engineering Structural Safety and Disaster Prevention Research team, Professor Shao Wei, Associate Professor Chao Zhiming, young teacher Zhang Wenbing and other team members attended the meeting. Associate Professor Chao Zhiming delivered a special report entitled Multi-scale mechanical properties of geogrid-reinforced Calc sand. The teachers of the team had extensive exchanges with the participating experts and scholars, which significantly enhanced the influence of the Marine geotechnical engineering discipline of Shanghai Maritime University.
The sixth National Symposium on Geotechnical Engineering in Islands and Reefs organized nearly 100 academic reports, including five topics: Geotechnical mechanics and Engineering Technology in Oceans and Islands, Basic Properties and Applications of materials in Islands and reefs, Marine hydrate Exploitation and ecological environment, Marine Engineering Disaster Protection and Marine wind power Development. This paper mainly discusses the geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and ecological protection in the construction of islands and reefs and the exploitation of Marine resources.
In recent years, the port and ocean engineering structure safety and disaster prevention research team of the School has followed the scientific frontier closely. Focusing on the needs of national Marine strategy, the team members actively carry out geotechnical and structural engineering research on islands and reefs, and undertake and complete a number of scientific research tasks such as National Natural Science Foundation and Shanghai Science and Technology Commission projects. It contributes to the construction, development and solution of important engineering problems of Marine geotechnical engineering.
