On April 12th, the volunteers of Qimeng Love Service Club of the College of Ocean Science and Engineering went to Lingang Conservation Institute to carry out the creative handicraft activity of Keeping Spring. They shaped artistic life with simple ultra-light clay and spent a beautiful spring afternoon with the old people.

In front of the elderly, the volunteers acted as little teachers one by one, explaining the properties and shape of ultra-light clay. The elderly people showed strong interest in this novel material. The young volunteers and the old people create an artistic life together. The old people devote themselves to the whole process, full of ideas and creativity. The earnest, meticulous, modest and studious spirit deeply impressed the young students present. During the whole creation process, the volunteers talked and laughed with the old people, interacting warmly and happily. After the activity, the old people excitedly took photos of their works, shared videos with their families, and displayed their handmade ornaments in prominent places in their rooms with a sense of accomplishment.

After two hours of volunteer service, everyone took a photo and the volunteers said goodbye to the seniors. The old people also thanked the volunteers one after another. Seeing the old people's bright smiles and hearing the old people's hearty laughter, the volunteers fully realized the significance of this volunteer activity. Caring for the elderly not only requires company, but also lets the old people gain self-value and find the power of youth in highlighting their own value.
