Have you ever seen Shanghai Maritime University in the wee hours? Dim street lights, quiet campus, everyone is still doing a sweet dream. Before the morning class, you can walk into the canteen and eat a steaming breakfast, which opens up a day of study and life. So, have you ever understood the effort behind this breakfast? On March 24, 2023, the Youth League Committee of the College of Ocean Science and Engineering and the Catering Management Section of the Logistics Center jointly organized students to become kitchen experience officer to take you to reveal the Canteen of Shanghai Maritime University at 3:30 a.m., walk into the familiar but unfamiliar canteen, experience the preparation, processing and production of canteen meals at close range, and find the story behind each breakfast.
At 3:30 am, under the guidance of the canteen staff, the experience officers entered the kitchen after taking good health protection. They visited the production of steamed buns, soy milk, porridge, deep-fried dough sticks and corn pancakes for breakfast. During the visit, the staff said that the canteen has a complete management plan from material selection to production, always adhere to the strict selection of various ingredients, strictly follow the tableware cleaning and disinfection procedures, strict food processing procedures, to ensure that the teachers and students of Shanghai Maritime University dining safety and good dining experience. Student representatives have said that the seemingly simple breakfast is the most thoughtful meal in the cafeteria. The usual morning, there are many unusual insist, every steamed bun, every bowl of wonton, every cup of soymilk, behind are a group of uncles and aunts silently pay figure.
This activity aims to let the students feel the hard work of the canteen staff and the hard-won life through the close work experience. To realize the comprehensive education value of cultivating morality, wisdom, physical strength and beauty through labor education, cultivate students' positive labor values and excellent labor quality, stimulate students' consciousness of loving and honor school, enhance students' sense of belonging, sense of identity and pride of Shanghai Maritime University, and further encourage them to carry forward the spirit of hard work in future study and life, be down-to-earth and study hard. Create a better life with diligence.
