On January 12th, the annual summary meeting and the first Technical committee meeting of Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Center of Key Steel for Heavy Icebreakers (hereinafter referred to as Collaborative Innovation Center) was held online.  All the experts from the Technology Committee of Collaborative Innovation Center, leaders of relevant departments and colleges, and teachers' representatives attended the meeting.

Li Zhipeng first expressed his welcome and gratitude to the leaders and experts attending the meeting and introduced the history and main subject areas of Shanghai Maritime University. He pointed out that since the construction of the Collaborative innovation center for more than a year, through close cooperation with collaborative units, positive research results have been achieved in the development, production, testing and evaluation standards of special steel and solder for heavy icebreakers. All cooperative units have given great support for more than one year. We hope that through this meeting, we can sum up the good work experience, find out the shortcomings, further refine the direction and make plans under the guidance of the experts of the technical committee, and enhance the core competitiveness of science and technology.

At the same time, he hopes that the collaborative innovation center will focus on the four aspects and take the practical ship application as the ultimate goal and evaluation criteria. It will not only achieve available materials, but also put forward a higher goal, that is to establish the material system of polar heavy icebreaker and have its own voice in the world.

Gu Yingbin expressed her great honor to be invited to serve as honorary Director of Collaborative Innovation Center. He pointed out that Sinonuclear Marine Nuclear Power Development Co., Ltd. has been committed to the development, market expansion, organization construction and operation management of Marine clean energy power equipment. In order to better serve the national strategy and social development, to give full play to the technology, talent and industrial advantages of enterprises and universities in their respective fields, as a collaborative unit, Will contribute to the independent design and construction of the country's first heavy icebreaker together with the participating units.

Wu Jun pointed out that the construction of heavy icebreakers plays an important role in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative. Baosteel Research Institute of the CPC Central Committee is actively planning to cooperate with Shanghai Maritime University to improve product quality on the basis of existing traditional ship materials. In the future, we will make contributions to the construction of China's first heavy icebreaker together with other collaborative units by virtue of our own advantages and the high-quality platform of Collaborative Innovation Center.

At the meeting, the establishment of the first Collaborative Innovation Center Technology Committee was announced. Gu Yingbin read out the list of members of the Technology committee.  Professor Dong Lihua, Director of the Collaborative Innovation Center, introduced the construction and future work plan of the Collaborative Innovation Center since its establishment. Experts of the Technical committee reviewed the work plan and put forward opinions and suggestions.

In 2021, under the strong support of the Municipal Education Commission, the university was approved to establish a collaborative innovation center, whose main task is to carry out research and development, testing, evaluation and screening of key steel for China's first heavy icebreaker, provide material verification platform and technical support for heavy icebreaker and subsequent related ships, and form an industry-university-research and inspection synergy with complementary functions and positive interactions. Improve the overall efficiency of the innovation chain.
