Biography 

Zhiming Chao, male, born in 1991, PhD, associate professor, master supervisor, recipient of Excellent Scholar Project of China Society and Technology Association, Shanghai Overseas Excellent Youth Scholar Project, Shanghai Talent Reservation ProjectExcellent Youth Scholar Project of Chinese Navigation Society, Shanghai Outstanding Talent Project. In 2021, I obtained my PhD degree in the major of Engineering in the University of Warwick, UK, with being supervised by Reader Gary Fowmes (The former chairman of International Geosynthetics Society UK Chapter). In the same year, after I obtained the PhD degree, I was directly hired as an associated professor in Shanghai Maritime University, China. Now, I am also conducted part-time post-doctoral research in Hohai University under the supervision of Professor Jinhai Zheng (The vice head of Hohai University). Additionally, I am the committee member of International Geosynthetics Society Young Member Committee and China Geosynthetics Society Young Member Committee.

My research directions include: the interaction between soil and geosynthetics interfaces, the application of artificial intelligence techniques in geosynthetics. Up to now, I have published more than tens of SCI and EI papers, among which I am the first author or corresponding author for more than twenty SCI papers (including several ESI highly cited paper, nearly twenty JCR Q1 papers), nearly ten EI papers. I am authorized more than ten invention patents, among which I am the first inventor for about ten invention patents. Also, I have presided nearly fifteen scientific research projects, including National Natural Science Foundation of China project, China Postdoctoral Foundation project, and nearly ten provincial and ministerial projects, with the total scientific research funding over 300 million RMB. I am the reviewer for many high-quality international journals, including Geotextiles and Geomembranes, Geosynthetics International, etc.
