The school won the 2021 "Shengle Cup" Shanghai college students' laboratory safety knowledge competition

On November 9, 2021 Shengle Cup Shanghai college students' laboratory safety knowledge competition was held in Shanghai Ocean University. The participating teachers and students of the school performed well and finally won the championship.

Shen Xiafei, a 2020 master student majoring in safety science and engineering, Shen Xiafan, a 2020 master student majoring in marine structure design and manufacturing, and Xie Songpei, a 2019 undergraduate majoring in safety engineering, formed a team to participate on behalf of the University. Zhu Yajun, deputy director of asset and laboratory management office, Wu Yujian and Wei Fang, School of marine science and engineering, served as instructors for on-site guidance. Three participating students won the championship with solid knowledge reserve and tacit teamwork.

The school attaches great importance to laboratory safety, and organizes students to participate in safety training of hazardous chemicals and precursor chemicals management and on-the-job training of special equipment operators every year. After a month's preparation, the school and college selected and determined the contestants through layers, and organized teachers to carry out targeted guidance and training for the contestants, so as to ensure the excellent performance of the contestants in the competition.

The competition is guided by the security office of Shanghai Education Commission, the Security Committee of Shanghai Society of higher education and Shanghai Institute of university laboratory management. It is jointly sponsored by 14 Shanghai universities such as Tongji University, East China Normal University and Shanghai Maritime University, and undertaken by Shanghai Haiyang University. The competition aims to promote learning through competition, guide college students to actively learn laboratory safety knowledge, eliminate potential laboratory safety hazards, improve laboratory safety disposal skills, and shape students' comprehensive literacy and ability.
