Abstract: With the rapid development of China's urbanization process, in order to alleviate the tension between man and land in cities, a large number of industrial and mining enterprises have been redeveloped and utilized.

In soft soil areas such as the Yangtze River Delta, the soil and groundwater of a large number of sites have been seriously polluted, and the environmental safety risks are prominent.

During the 14th Five-year Plan period, improving environmental quality and strengthening ecological civilization construction is still a national strategy that must be adhered to, and soil and water environmental security is an important part of this strategy.

In 2014, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Land and Resources jointly released the National Soil Pollution Survey Bulletin, which showed that some soil pollution in China was serious, and the soil environmental problems in abandoned industrial and mining sites were prominent.

The pollutants in the contaminated site will eventually accumulate in the soil and groundwater. The problem of soil and groundwater pollution now exists widely in China, and the pollution problem has brought great harm to human health and the environment, and the situation is quite severe.

Among them, a large number of contaminated sites are located in low permeability strata, while the progress of soil remediation in low permeability sites in China is slow. Due to the characteristics of low permeability, it is difficult for the remediation agent to reach the contaminated plume, which hinders the mass transfer effect of the remediation agent. As a result, the remediation agent cannot effectively contact the contaminated plume area, resulting in low remediation efficiency.

At the same time, the pollutants that are not easy to be removed in the low permeability area may spread to the high permeability area, and as a new source of pollution, the pollution remediation of the site rebound. Therefore, the soil remediation of the low permeability site has become the focus and difficulty of the site remediation.
