On the afternoon of May 26, the College of Ocean Science and Engineering held a meeting of Party members to elect delegates to the Second Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai Maritime University (SMU). The meeting was presided over by Wang Weiyi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, attended by all official Party members of the College, and Chen Jie, teacher of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the University, gave guidance on the scene.
The conference opened with a solemn national anthem. According to the agenda of the congress, the number of full Party members at the meeting was counted, and the 10 Strictly Forbid Discipline Requirements were read out, demanding strict electoral discipline to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the election. The meeting voted and approved the election method, the list of people to supervise and count the votes, introduced the process of the preparation of candidates for the party representative of the college, and voted and approved the list of candidates for the second party congress of the college.
The conference conducts competitive elections by secret ballot. All teachers, students and Party members fill in the ballot carefully and vote in an orderly manner. After the votes were counted by the supervisors and the tellers, 11 official representatives of the College of Marine Science and Engineering were elected to attend the Second Party Congress of the University, including 9 faculty members and 2 student members. The electoral congress concluded with a successful completion of its agenda and a solemn international anthem.
