College of Ocean Science and Engineering, Grade 2020 has successfully completed the second lecture of situation policy course in the second semester of freshman year

On May 19, 2021, all the students of the grade 2020 in the School of Marine Science and Engineering carried out the situation policy education course with the theme of The Origin of Western Marine Civilization and the Exploitation of Seaways. This course will be lectured by Miss Yang Fangmei.In this course, Ms. Yang Fangmei first explained navigation and the formation of western Marine civilization from two major birthplaces of western civilization: Greece and Egypt. In the process of explanation, Yang combined cultural relics, myths, wars, local living habits and other aspects, in an interesting way, detailed narrated the origin of Marine civilization in the western civilization. For example, the Hippovian War, the Borot War and the Spartan War symbolized the iterative development of Greek civilization. Secondly, Mr. Yang took this opportunity to talk about the development of western Marine civilization, pointing out its different characteristics from Chinese farming civilization: the nature of expansion.
  Through this study, by listening to stories and learning history, the students had a deeper understanding of the western maritime civilization, especially the Greek and Egyptian civilization, which they did not know much about. They also had a cognition of the characteristics of the western sea route exploration which was different from China. Not only broaden the scope of knowledge, but also from a more comprehensive and broader perspective to learn, understand the world's Marine culture and the development process of shipping routes.
