Approved by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and decided by the Organizing Committee of Shanghai College Students' New Material Innovation and Creativity Competition to carry out the 7th Shanghai College Students' New Material Innovation and Creativity Competition in 2020, the relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
1. The purpose and significance of the competition
College students innovative new materials in Shanghai creative competition is sponsored by Shanghai education committee, the Shanghai area of college students competition project, aimed at encouraging college students to study professional knowledge of material apply to scientific research and engineering practice, innovation and entrepreneurship as the guidance, under the guidance of tutor, through laboratory research, engineering design practice, the enterprise, forming large innovative and clearer defect display results, cultivate students' innovative consciousness, innovative thinking and team collaboration and the ability to solve complex engineering problems.
Teams are encouraged to select topics from various practical problems faced by society and enterprises, especially those related to the field of materials for scientific research on epidemic prevention and control, as well as material research topics for overcoming key technologies of bottleneck, so as to improve their own innovation ability while solving practical problems. This competition presents the innovative design results obtained by college students in the form of physical objects or software, and conforms to the following material fields:
(1) new energy materials;
(2) environmental materials;
(3) Biomedical materials;
(4) photoelectric information materials;
(5) Aerospace materials;
(6) rare earth functional materials;
(7) Advanced materials for 3D printing;
(8) Material simulation and simulation;
(9) Other cutting-edge new materials and related technologies.
The theme of this competition is Coagerizing materials and creating graphene. With the combination of medicine and industry as its feature, the competition will promote the wide application of advanced technology in engineering fields in the medical field, achieve joint tackling of key scientific research projects, solve the bottleneck of discipline development, and encourage innovative achievements in graphene materials and additive manufacturing to actively participate in the competition.
2. Organization and management
The competition will set up an academic committee and an organizational committee. The organizing committee includes director, deputy director, committee members, secretary general and meeting affairs team, responsible for the organization and meeting affairs of the competition.
Review panel by the contest organizing committee is responsible for hiring, in the articles of association of competition shall be formulated on the basis of the evaluation standard, through the examination results, results displayed, asked the persons involved, and to quantify the entries grading and sorting, order entry results is put forward, by the examination and approval of the academic committee and the organizing committee and submitted to the Shanghai municipal education commission for approval.

Note: During the finals, if the competition cannot be held on site due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the organizing committee will inform the change of the competition time and method in a timely manner.
4. Competition Mode
(1) Registration: Fill in the registration form and send your works to the mailbox of the competition within the specified time. The work should be approved (sealed) by the unit where the student works, and two referees (senior title) recommend. Email address: clds@usst.edu.cn. The attached electronic materials should be packaged and compressed in the format of RAR or ZIP, and the file naming rules (the subject of the email should also prevail) are: School + Name of Project Leader + Group (Zhang San Undergraduate Group of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. (2) Preliminary: by review the panel according to the registration work, selected for the final work and published on the Internet (http://clxy.usst.edu.cn http://jwc.usst.edu.cn/6773/list.htm), at the same time to each designs, head of the final formal notice sending and final requirements.
(3) Final: the project leader shall bring the entries to the designated final venue to display them on the spot in the form of posters, objects and device operation. The list of winning works will be determined after on-site evaluation and defense by experts.
5. Competitors and Forms
Full-time non-adult education undergraduate/graduate students (including master's and doctoral students) registered in universities and research institutes in Shanghai. Each team consists of 2-5 members, with a team leader (the project leader and the person with the highest academic experience). Each student is allowed to participate in only one team, and each team can submit only one entry. Encourage cross-grade, professional and other teams. The competition consists of undergraduate group and graduate group (including doctoral and master students), which will be evaluated according to the educational background of the project leader. Each team should have at least 1 instructor.

8. The competition reward
The competition sets up two categories of awards: excellent works award and excellent organization award.
The first, second and third prizes will be set up for the excellent works, which will be determined by the evaluation committee respectively according to 10%, 20% and 30% of the total number of the participating groups or the total number of the works, and awards will be given to the participating units and the persons who completed the works. Excellent works, recommended by the judging committee, can be awarded with a special prize.
The organizing committee will nominate a certain number of competitors to submit to the organizing committee for approval according to the number of competitors or the number of entries, compliance with the rules of the competition, the situation of organizing related units and students to visit the competition site, and the ability of organizing and managing the site, etc.
9. Exhibition, exchange and transfer
The entries will be displayed or demonstrated on the competition site for the judging committee and the relevant enterprises and people from all walks of life to observe. During the competition, the organizer may organize academic exchange activities to introduce the innovative design achievements and experience of college students and transfer the entries in the form of reports, promotion meetings, forums and wall exhibitions.
10. Bylaw
The deliverables of this competition shall not be classified items or contain any classified contents.
All organizations and individuals must respect the intellectual property rights of the competition results. Violators will be dealt with according to relevant national laws and regulations.
11. Others
The specific work arrangement of the competition will be notified by Shanghai University Students New Material Innovation and Creativity Competition Committee separately. Information about the competition will be published on the website of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (http://clxy.usst.edu.cn).
Colleges and universities and scientific research institutes are invited to organize teachers and students to participate in the competition.
