The 2nd China Metamaterials Forum was held in Beijing on November 30, 2020.The forum was hosted by the Metamaterials Branch of the Chinese Society for Materials Research and Shanghai Maritime University.Professors Fan Runhua and Sun Kai, associate professors, and experts from Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Nankai University, Tongji University, Dalian University of Technology attended the forum.
Fan Runhua presided over the forum and introduced the relevant research progress of our school.Electromagnetic fields/waves are common carriers of information and energy.The complex dielectric constant is a basic physical parameter that affects the interaction between electromagnetic and material, and is the main basis for selecting materials for electronic components.Can the dielectric constant of a material be negative?If so, it may radically alter the way electromagnetic-material interactions work, leading to electronic devices with entirely new principles.To solve this problem, Fan Runhua's research group has established the principle framework and preparation strategy of negative mesomaterials in radio frequency and AC frequency band over several years, and established a metamaterial branch of negative mesomaterials internationally, leading more than 50 institutions in China, the United States, Europe and Japan to carry out this research.In the past five years, the research group has been approved with a total funding of nearly 10 million yuan for longitudinal research projects, published 15 highly cited ESI papers, and guided 5G communication devices, ship stealth, ship electric propulsion devices and other important applications.
Metamaterials from materials, devices, equipment, systems perspective, beyond material on multidisciplinary fusion depth on the material basis of the material to achieve the excellent performance of new concept materials or design methods, involving the ultra structure of medium, artificial medium, surface material, photonic crystals, the left hand, frequency selective surfaces, such as from shock yuan, sequence structure material, negative physical parameters, etc.Metamaterials have become an interdisciplinary field of deep integration.
