Brief Biography
 
Prof. Jianghong Liu graduated from University of Science and Technology of China(USTC), getting his PhD degree of thermo-physics in 2002. As a Postdoctor, majored in Fire safety Science and Engineering at State Key Laboratory of Fire Science(SKLFS). Then he was employed in USTC as a lecturer at SKLFS and in 2004 promoted to be an associate professor there. He was selected to be a senior visiting scholar at Kingston University from 2006 to 2008. He transferred to Shanghai Maritime University in 2009 and was promoted to be a professor in 2011.
 
Prof. Jianghong Liu is the dean of Safety Engineering department at Ocean Science and Engineering College, Shanghai Maritime University (SMU). He is also the chief of the Division of Safety Engineering. The Division develops, verifies, and utilizes experiments and models to ship fire, safety economics, safety development planning, accident dynamic simulation and emulation, emergency rescue,identification and safety assessment for dangerous chemicals in ship and so on.

Achievements
In fire research field Prof. Liu has obtained a series of important achievements. He has established some new experimental methods on the fire suppression effectiveness of water mist. He has constructed experimental platform of multi-component water mist and clean gas fire-extinguishing test. He has also developed advanced methods for generating water mist, including bubble atomization, water vapor atomization, and so on. He has proposed chemical and physical mechanism of the application multi-component water mist for flame extinguishment. Prof. Liu has accomplished over ten research projects, where he presided over five projects supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People´s Republic of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Mary Curie fellowship project of EU and the AnHui Development Fund of Person with ability, etc. He has authored over 60 research papers of which 8 were indexed by SCI and 12 by EI.
