On December 14, 2016, Mr. Li Jianxun, President of Offshore Tech LLC, presented an overview of the tension leg platform and its design principles and requirements at the 408 school of Marine science and engineering building. Class 14 students of shipping major attended this lecture.
At the early stage of the lecture, Mr. Li introduced that as one of the four major drilling platforms, tension leg platform has advantages over other three drilling platforms (semi-submersible platform, SPAR and floating production, oil storage and unloading device) in strong anti-wave ability and wide adaptability to water depth. Due to its special fixed form, the steel tube tension leg is applied to tighten the platform to ensure the vertical fixed, so that the platform can be greatly reduced under the influence of wind and waves in the vertical direction, and can rotate freely in a 360-degree direction under the action of wind, wave and water, to avoid the destructive power brought by wind and waves.
According to its different design requirements, tension leg platforms can be divided into conventional types, ETLP and SEASTAR forms. Mr. Li especially introduced Malakai TLP, the first and largest tension leg platform in Asia. The tension leg platform designed by Malaysia is applied to the environment where the sea conditions are relatively calm. According to the sea conditions in the South China Sea and the development of the platform, Mr. Li put forward the corresponding opinions.
For the design requirements of tension leg platform, Mr. Li based on Offshore international Tech LLC's design principle on the whole of the tension leg platform needed to face the problems in the process of design and need to solve the problem, including the overall structure of the tension leg platform design, the upper platform load layout problem, hydrodynamic problems of movement, the structure of tension leg platform strength design and so on, comprehensive introduces the tension leg platform for students and teachers in the whole process of design and need to solve the problem.
